Mission Statement:

Darius is primarily engaged in political reform and fighting for the causes of the smaller ships. Captain Gray always seeks peaceful interactions with other captains and is pleased to offer aid to anyone in need. In keeping with this mission, Captain Gray is a founding member of the Aquila Alliance, whose purpose is to seek balance in the galactic power structures.

Ship History:

The starship Darius was taken out of mothballs and recommissioned on Stardate 1755.4 at the Merak shipyard. Any history of the ship's actions before this date have been lost in the vastness of time, as have any records of how the ship came to be at Merak. Fresh out of the officer's academy, Captain Gray and a skeleton crew soon set out on a shakedown cruise to work any kinks out of the ancient systems. Amazingly, the life support was the only component to exhibit any signs of stress during the initial voyage. Truly, the ship was a testament to the knowledge and skill of her ancient builders. The crew's flawless performance on this tour prompted the captain to give them all field commissions and keep them on as core personnel. With the shakedown cruise complete, the Darius set out on a peaceful mission of scientific discovery and exploration on Stardate 1756.3.

Since leaving the Merak shipyard, the ship has undergone many custom modifications. Having visited the far reaches of the galaxy, all adventures have been completed, all starnets have been accessed, and most alien homeworlds recognize the Darius equally for her mercy and fierceness. Some academy training is still lacking as of Stardate 1839.2, but this will be picked up in due course. The ship is currently undergoing a long refit toward a heavier combat role. Most encounters with other vessels have been peaceful, but the need for better defenses against pirates and aggressive alien species has been recognized by all members of the crew.

Design Goals:

The ship's current design is tending toward strong mid range weaponry, a massive sensor suite and good impulse capability. The plan is to keep building on these strengths and eventually achieve the number one ranking in sensors and impulse.
